It’s been a while…

Posted: September 23, 2015 in News

So I haven’t blogged in what seems like an age. Mainly because that’s pretty much how long it’s been. Over 18 months in fact, but who’s counting? I’m back now anyway so feel free to rejoice…

Right, let’s get on with it…

Lord of Ashes, book three in the Steelhaven Trilogy, comes out on the 8th October in the UK and Commonwealth. This marks the end of the series but there are a few threads left dangling tentatively at the end. The jury’s still out on whether there’ll be more novels set in the Free States but the trilogy consists of over a thousand pages of gritty, funny, character-driven fantasy for you to get your chops around, so if you haven’t already you should really buy it… and get all your friends to buy it too! If that’s not enough to get you reaching for your pocket money, have a look at the spiffy trailer for Herald of the Storm

And don’t just take my word for it. This week the French version of the series reached the top ten on’s fantasy list, outselling my old mate George RR Martin*

We still don’t have a US publisher yet, for all you folks over the pond, but I’m assured there may be distribution news shortly, so you can all look forward to getting your mits on it very soon.

In other news, I recently made my first panel appearance at NineWorlds in London, which was simultaneously thrilling and terrifying. I was talking about Death in Genre alongside such literary luminaries as Paul Cornell and Joe Abercrombie (no I hadn’t heard of him either) and a good time was had by all, once I managed to calm down enough to speak. It remains to be seen whether I’m invited to do another one so I can stare like a rabbit in the headlights and give short yet pithy answers to serious questions. I’m thinking probably not!

As for the future… well you’ll know when I do. I currently have two proposals doing the rounds, which amounts to around 50,000 words of fiction (that’s more or less half a novel for those who don’t know). One is a steampunky adventure, the other’s a more traditional epic fantasy, and I’m hoping they’ll both see the light of day at some point in the near future.

That’s all for now, and I promise not to leave it so long next time. Let’s hope the next blog post is ace news about a six-figure deal… or something!

Be excellent to each other!!!

*Admittedly I’ve never met him, but I’m sure we’d get on great guns!!
